As with the majority of countries in South America, dancing is a large part of Cuban culture. People like to dance at any opportunity, whether it is at festivals, special occasions or on a night out. It is not surprising then that there is a thriving nightlife in the capital of Cuba, Havana. There 
are various areas in the city where young, fashionable people can hang out, as well as quieter more sophisticated bars and clubs to cater for the more mature crowd.
One of the dances most associated with Cuba is the Salsa, and there are various bars and clubs around the city where you can partake, including on the beach meaning you can dance under the moonlight.
For the tourist looking for a generic night out the best area to head to is the Vedado region where you will be able to find conventional nightclubs most similar to what we have at home. The drinks prices in this area can be more expensive and you will be cheating yourself of real Cuban culture. Most bars close at 12 which is when people head towards the clubs. Many clubs in Havana have a strict dress code. Other popular areas of Havana where there are cluster of bars and clubs are Miramar, Playa and the Calle Obispo strip.
