Varadero Beach

Varadero Beach

Varadero Beach (or Playa Azul in Spanish) is one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the world in my view.

The beach is located in the Matanza province of Cuba and is about 140 kilometers from the capital Havana.

Varadero is situated on the famous Hicacos Peninsula which is at the end of the Via Bianca motorway.

The peninsula lies between the Straits of Florida and is very narrow and has often been described as a needle pointing to the sea.

The beach stretches for an impressive 36 kilometers and is one of the most important beach resort areas in the Caribbean.

There are a number of tourist activities available at Varadero Beach with diving and water sports enthusiasts able to find several dive centers on the peninsula offering scuba diving tutorials, snorkeling classes, and other water sports lessons.

There are many marinas that allow fishing in the area and the most popular catch in the Varadero area is the bill-fish. Visitors to this area can swim with the dolphins and can also visit the submarine park.

Getting to the Beach

To get to Varadero Beach, visitors can either choose to drive down or fly into the Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport, which caters to both domestic and international airlines.

Finding a place to stay at Varadero is relatively simple with over 40 hotels based on the beach.

Whether you are looking to stay in a high-end five-star hotel or a small resort, you will be able to find accommodation to suit your budget here.
